Kanpur Metro Orange Line is the city's first and, so far, only operational corridor, run by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) between IIT Kanpur and Kanpur Central over 14 stations and 16 km. The first nine stations are elevated and the last five are underground. The line runs south from IIT Kanpur through Kalyanpur, SPM Hospital, and Vishwavidyalaya into the university and hospital belt at Gurudev Chauraha, Geeta Nagar, Rawatpur, and LLR Hospital, reaching Moti Jheel — the original priority-corridor terminus — before dropping underground for the Chunniganj-Kanpur Central extension via Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, and Naya Ganj to terminate at Kanpur Central railway station. That 5-station extension opened on 30 May 2025. The Orange Line does not yet have an interchange station. Seven more stations are built between Kanpur Central and Naubasta and have been inspected by the metro safety regulator, but they are not open to passengers yet. Kanpur Metro Orange Line trains run daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. MetroYatra provides station-wise train timings, Orange Line metro fare, platform details, and route map for all 14 stations.
