Chennai Metro Blue Line is the network's longest and busiest corridor, running 32.65 km between Wimco Nagar Depot and Chennai International Airport across 26 stations. It is the backbone of Chennai Metro Phase I, connecting the airport in the south to the northern port-adjacent neighbourhoods of Tiruvottriyur and Wimco Nagar.
Running south from Wimco Nagar Depot, the Blue Line passes through Tiruvottriyur, Washermenpet, and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central (Chennai Central), then through Thousand Lights, Teynampet, Saidapet, and Guindy before reaching Arignar Anna Alandur and terminating at Chennai International Airport. Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central is the interchange with the Green Line near the old city core, while Arignar Anna Alandur connects the two lines again further south.
Peak-hour trains on the Blue Line run as often as every 3 to 6 minutes on the busiest Airport-city centre stretch, especially during the 8-11 AM and 5-8 PM peaks, with CMRL adding extra services on this stretch to reduce crowding. Fare follows Chennai Metro's zone-based system, rising with distance travelled. The Singara Chennai Card gives a 20% fare discount over QR-code tickets.
