Bengaluru Metro Purple Line is Namma Metro's primary east-west corridor, running 43.49 km between Challaghatta and Whitefield (Kadugodi) across 37 stations. It opened in phases starting with the Baiyappanahalli-MG Road section in October 2011, Bengaluru's first metro service, with the Whitefield and Challaghatta extensions completing the corridor by 2023.
Running west to east, the Purple Line passes through Challaghatta, Kengeri, Mysuru Road, and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, then through Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha, MG Road, Indiranagar, Baiyappanahalli, Krishna Raja Puram, and Hoodi before terminating at Whitefield (Kadugodi). Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic is the line's sole interchange, connecting to the Green Line as well as KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station and the Kempegowda Bus Station. Whitefield anchors Bengaluru's largest IT corridor, home to major tech parks including International Tech Park Bangalore, while MG Road and Cubbon Park serve the city's central business and shopping district.
Peak-hour trains on the Purple Line run about every 8 minutes between 7:00 AM-10:00 AM and 5:00 PM-9:00 PM, dropping to roughly every 10-15 minutes off-peak, in 6-coach formations. The Namma Metro Smart Card and NCMC are accepted at all stations for faster boarding than single-journey tokens. MetroYatra provides station-wise train timings, Purple Line metro fare, platform details, and route map for all 37 stations.
