Ahmedabad Metro Violet Line is a 5.42 km elevated spur connecting GIFT City to GNLU via PDEU, comprising 3 stations. The line opened on 17 September 2024 as part of Ahmedabad Metro's Phase 2, giving Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) - India's first operational International Financial Services Centre - its first direct metro connection.
The Violet Line begins at GIFT City, home to a growing cluster of banking, fintech, and IT-BPM offices, then serves Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) before terminating at GNLU - Gujarat National Law University - in Gandhinagar's education and government belt. GNLU is the line's only interchange, connecting to the Yellow Line for onward travel to Infocity, Sachivalaya, and Mahatma Mandir, as well as south to Motera Stadium and the rest of the Ahmedabad Metro network. The entire Violet Line is elevated and operates within Gandhinagar district, separate from the city of Ahmedabad that the Yellow and Red Lines serve.
Peak-hour trains on the Violet Line run at approximately 10-12 minute intervals with 3-coach formations, matching the rest of the Ahmedabad Metro network. Metro fare follows the same distance-slab system as the rest of GMRC, and the GMRC Smart Card and NCMC are accepted at all 3 stations. MetroYatra provides station-wise train timings, Ahmedabad Metro Violet Line metro fare, platform details, and a route map for the GIFT City corridor.
