Ahmedabad Metro is Gujarat's first rapid transit network, operated by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), with 54 Ahmedabad Metro stations across 4 colour-coded lines spanning 69.36 km. The first section opened on 6 March 2019, and the network has since expanded in phases through 2024 and into 2026. Trains run from 6:20 AM to 10:00 PM daily in 3-coach formations.
Ahmedabad Metro serves the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Gujarat, connecting the state's commercial capital with its administrative and education hub. The Blue Line runs east-west between Thaltej Gam and Vastral Gam through Gujarat University, Kalupur Railway Station, and Amraiwadi, while the Red Line runs north-south between APMC and Motera Stadium via Paldi, Usmanpura, and Sabarmati Railway Station. Old High Court is the interchange between the Blue and Red Lines, and Motera Stadium connects the Red Line to the Yellow Line, which continues north to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar via Infocity and Sachivalaya. The Yellow Line further interchanges with the Violet Line at GNLU, a short spur linking the GIFT City financial district to Ahmedabad Metro's wider network.
Ahmedabad Metro fare is calculated on a distance-slab basis, with the GMRC Smart Card and National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) accepted at all stations alongside single-journey tokens. Peak-hour trains run at approximately 10-12 minute intervals. The GMRC helpline is available at +91-79-22960123 for travel assistance. MetroYatra provides station-wise train timings, Ahmedabad Metro route map, fare calculator, and platform details for all 54 stations across the Blue, Red, Yellow, and Violet Lines.
