Delhi Airport Express Line Crosses 80,000 Daily Passengers in August 2025, Highest Since 2018 Pre-Renovation Peak
The Delhi Airport Express Line (Orange Line) recorded over 80,000 daily passengers in August 2025, marking its highest ridership since 2018. The recovery follows years of gradual growth after pandemic disruptions and the 2022–23 partial closure of Terminal 2. At IGI Airport, passenger numbers crossed 7 crore annually in FY 2024–25, driving sustained demand for the 22.7 km express metro link. The Airport Express connects New Delhi (interchange: Yellow, Violet lines), Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, IGI T1, IGI T3 (Aerocity), and Dwarka Sector 21 (interchange: Blue Line). The 20-minute journey from New Delhi to T3 at ₹60 (Smart Card) competes directly with app-based cabs averaging 45–60 minutes during peak traffic.
