Delhi-Meerut RRTS Overview
Delhi-Meerut RRTS, branded Namo Bharat, is India's first Regional Rapid Transit System, operated on behalf of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) by DB RRTS Operations India, a Deutsche Bahn subsidiary. The 82.15 km corridor connects Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, opening in phases from October 2023 and reaching full operation on 22 February 2026. Namo Bharat trains reach speeds of up to 180 km/h, cutting the Delhi-Meerut journey to around 45 minutes. Trains run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
The corridor connects Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut through 15 operational stations, including Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Duhai, Murad Nagar, Modinagar South, and Modinagar North, before entering Meerut city. From Meerut South, the RRTS shares its final 4 stations โ Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram โ with the separate Meerut Metro Line, since both run on the same elevated viaduct through the city; Modipuram is the northern terminus for both. NCRTC Adds Eight More Namo Bharat Trips on Delhi-Meerut Route as Daily Ridership Nears 1 Lakh, Crosses 3 Crore Trips
NCRTC introduced eight additional Namo Bharat train trips on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor in May 2026 to manage rising peak-hour crowds, four extra trips each in the morning and evening, backed by two more trains added to the fleet. Daily ridership on weekdays now ranges between 90,000 and 1,14,000.
The move came shortly after Namo Bharat crossed 3 crore passenger journeys in the first week of May 2026, less than five months after crossing the 2 crore mark in December 2025.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor recorded over 100,000 passengers on February 23, 2026, its first full day of operation after the complete 82.15-km stretch opened.
